The Famous Smile:Geeta Dharmarajan; Kaleh and the Singsong Castle:Anahita Taymourian

On the 10th of May,The Habitat Children’s Book Forum organised a meet for children led by the eminent writers Mrs.Deepa Agarwal and Ms.Devika Rangachari. The meeting featured two books for the young ones. They were THE FAMOUS SMILE by Geeta Dharmarajan and KALEH AND THE SINGSONG CASTLE by Anahita Taymourian. These books are published by Katha. Many schools participated in the activity, fifteen children from class IV participated from our school.

The function began with story telling session for the kids.Mrs.Deepa Agarwal narrated the two stories in a very captivating and interesting manner. She made sure that the kids also participated in the stories by giving sounds to the characters and singing songs wherever necessary. The kids enjoyed the session a lot and were smiling with glee when they themselves brought the characters to life by sounds.

After the storytelling the kids were asked to draw and colour a scene from either of the two books. Many colourful pictures were produced by them and it was a huge hit with children. This gave them an opportunity to exercise their imagination and bring forth original creations which were best in their own way. After this meet the children are looking forward to attend many more.

Words do not describe a person. I am many things and yet nothing. I am an avid reader, reading her way through the pages of life. Some stories warm the heart and yet others have let me dry. I am a result of my life, and yet my life is part a result of me. Don't try to figure me.
